On to the line up :
Sound Stream – Live – Berlin – ( Sound Stream )
Operating in the same realms as masters from the past like Ron Hardy, Frank Timm treads a path where disco and house intertwine. Hardy is a crucial influence since the Chicago legend was famed for his ability to induce crowds into hypnotic states with the repetition of edited grooves and his steady build. Timm explores the same approach: a less-is-more mentality manifests in his production work and in the sparse amount of music he releases, refusing to sacrifice quality for commercial sake. Working with MMM’s Errorsmith under the Smith n Hack Moniker ; releasing his own harder-edged tracks as Soundhack, whatever the alias this Berliner always focuses his love for loops and stimulating monotony on engaging those jacking on the dancefloor.
Portable – Live – Berlin Via London , Lisbon & Cape Town ( Perlon , Süd Electronic , Naif , Karat , Context )
Our in – house one man show and all around trouble maker will be back ☺ . Last seen at Süd in April 2009 back at the Shacklewell Arms . Alan Abrahams AKA Portable AKA Bodycode has been in motion his whole life—growing up in South Africa, coming of age in London, decamping to Berlin and finally settling in Lisbon and back in Berlin again . His deeply syncopated brand of electronic dance music has evolved with every step of the journey.
His formative years were spent in an impoverished Cape Town township ironically tagged “Beverly Hills”, and to the backbeat of the first wave of Chicago house records he emerged out of the ruins of a post-apartheid South Africa. Inspired musically, yet frustrated geographically, he relocated to London in 1997.
In London, Abrahams began recording as Portable, the experimental, atmospheric project that acts as a living link between the indigenous sounds of his youth, and those first records whose futuristic aesthetic broadened his horizons. He Co-founded the Süd Electronic label with his partner Lerato back in October 2002 .
His now released some of the most freshest music on imprints such as Perlon , Spectral Sounds , Süd , Naif , Karat , Context + more .
2010 saw him drop a hit with “Find Me “ on Perlon . He has become a dab hand at remixing too with a remix for the Swedish duo – The Knife under his belt already and remixes for Ellen Alien ++ to follow shortly . Rumour has it that there is a Perlon album in the works too and a new ep for Süd this year . Portable is truly one of the most engaging live acts out there working within the confines of computer music .
Deck Duties :
Tama Sumo – Berlin ( Panorama Bar , Ostgut Ton )
Tama Sumo is a favourite down our headquarters . A deadly dj and an all around down to earth music obsessive . her Sunday sets @ Panorama Bar have become the stuff of legends attracting audiences from all over the world to descend upon the club .
She is somewhat of a Berlin legend with over 19 yrs experience behind the decks at some of the most influential clubs such as the old Tresor and the old Ostgut .
On this occasion Tama Sumo will be going b2b with Lakuti .
The 2 decided on going b2b at last year’s addition of Freerotation and after a great response , will be back again at Freerotation in 2011 , so this will be somewhat of a warm up to that ☺
Joe Delon – London ( Kiss Me Again )
Joe the man of many guises is a resident at the ace “ Kiss Me Again “ party . you’ve not been ? ya don’t know what you missing !! ☺
These guys are the real deal ! bonafide house enthusiasts with impeccable taste .
Was so impressed by Joe’s excellent set at the Xmas addition of Kiss Me Again , that he was asked on the spot to come and play .
Lakuti – London via Soweto (Süd , Uzuri )
Your host and resident dj will be at hand as usual .
Dance Dance Dance ………………………….
Hope to see you then
